Kanye drops his Highly Anticipated Album 'Ye'

Recently, the Kardashian-West family has received a lot of publicity . . . and not all of it has been good. Kanye's return to Twitter raised concerns about his mental health and his statement on TMZ that "slavery was a choice" was inflammatory to say the least. Furthermore, accusations have been hurled at Kim and Kanye for not doing enough to support Kanye's city of Chicago and the charity, Donda's House, founded in memory of Kanye's mother. Not to mention the family has been closely scrutinized amid the Tristan Thompson's cheating scandal on pregnant girlfriend, Khloe Kardashian, and the recent birth of their baby. However, in more hopeful news, Kim Kardashian West has met with President Donald Trump just a couple days ago to discuss the release of Alice Marie Johnson, a 63 year old woman serving a life sentence in federal prison for a non-violent drug charge.

'Ye' was met with mixed reviews by critics and fans. And when I say the album was highly anticipated, I don't mean that in an entirely positive way. Many looked forward to the album as proof that Kanye has fallen off as an artist and become more 'crazy' after recent news and the prior release of his song 'Lift Yourself' (which you may know as the 'Poopy-di scoop' song). Some fans, however, found old Kanye vibes in his new album and were quite pleased with the work.

Regardless, Kanye talks about some hot topics. First off, the album cover was taken in Wyoming with Kanye's iPhone before his exclusive listening party, and reads 'I hate being Bi-Polar it's awesome." It's no secret that Kanye's struggled with mental health issues in the past and his recent actions raise questions as well.

Second, Kanye writes a beautiful ode to wife Kim Kardashian on track 'Wouldn't Leave' and an equally beautiful ode to daughter North West on track 'Violent Crimes' while also sprinkling in an appreciation for rapper, Nicki Minaj. He praises Kim and all women who mean what they say when they vow "for better or worse" and references the recent TMZ scandal discussed previously. As for North West, he raps about wanting to protect her at all costs and is scared for her amid all the sexual misconduct cases circulating the news today. He raps that he wishes for his daughter to be strong like Nicki Minaj in the line "I hope she like Nicki, / I'll make her a monster."

The album touches on Tristan Thompson's infidelity in 'All Mine' and also contains reference to Stormy Daniels and the sexual assault allegations against producer Russell Williams. All that and more was heard first at Kanye's listening party in Wyoming two days ago on March 31.
